Relaunch of the Rs. 189 Prepaid Plan

Initially discontinued, this plan has been categorized under Jio’s ‘affordable packs’ within the ‘value pack’ section. According to TelecomTalk, this plan was previously removed alongside the Rs. 479 plan but has now been revived to cater to budget-conscious users.
The Rs. 189 prepaid plan provides subscribers with a 28-day validity period, unlimited voice calls, and 300 free SMS messages. Additionally, users receive 2GB of high-speed data, after which they can continue browsing at a reduced speed of 64Kbps.
The plan also includes complimentary access to JioTV, JioCinema, and JioCloud, although JioCinema Premium is not included. Given its affordability, this plan stands out as a competitive option compared to the Rs. 199 plan, which offers 18 days of validity, 1.5GB of daily data, and 100 SMS per day.
Jio’s Adjustments to Voice-Only Plans
Beyond the Rs. 189 plan, Jio has also introduced two long-term voice-only prepaid plans priced at Rs. 1,958 and Rs. 458. These plans initially provided validity for 365 days and 84 days, respectively. However, shortly after their launch, Jio adjusted their prices, reducing them to Rs. 1,748 and Rs. 448. While the benefits remained unchanged for the Rs. 448 plan, the Rs. 1,748 plan saw a reduction in validity from 365 days to 336 days.
These adjustments reflect Jio’s strategy to offer cost-effective solutions tailored to users who primarily rely on voice calls and SMS rather than data services. By making these plans more affordable, Jio aims to attract a broader customer base and retain its existing users in an increasingly competitive telecom market.
