Microsoft Lays Off Close To 1000 Employees Across Multiple Divisions

Microsoft, a major player in technology, has announced layoffs across several divisions. Microsoft is reported to have fired close to 1000 people, despite the tech company's refusal to disclose the exact number of employees affected by the latest round of layoffs. A number of employees announced their layoffs on social media platforms like Twitter and Blind.

A Microsoft veteran and product supervisor at the office of the Chief Technology Officer who goes by the name KC Lemson tweeted on Monday that she had been fired from the company.  Lemson was one of many long-serving Microsoft employees who were affected by the layoffs.

A Microsoft spokeswoman commented on the latest layoffs by saying, “Like all corporations, we consider our enterprise priorities frequently, and make structural changes accordingly. We will proceed to take a position in our enterprise and rent in key areas in the yr forward.”

Microsoft's decision to fire staff was anticipated well before July. Less than 1% of the company's 180,000 employees would be leaving under Satya Nadella's leadership.

In an email, Microsoft Engineering Team member Zack Cramer stated that they will “re-prioritise work that is already underway.”

It's difficult to do, according to Kramer in an email that the media agency was able to receive. "There are a lot of ideas that have the potential to have an impact, and every one of us has worked very hard, but we have to compromise because resources are limited, and time is the most precious of all of them."
