Indian Smartphone Market Grew 12% in 2021: Canalys

According to the report of Canalys, the smartphone market of India has recorded 162 million shipments in 2021 taking its growth to 12% more as compared to 2020. The second wave of the pandemic resulted in a rough start for the market but India recovered strongly in the second half of the year.
Smartphones vendors shipped 44.5 million devices in the fourth quarter, having 2% growth even with the challenging supply chain. Xiaomi shipped 9.3 million units while maintaining its 21% market share. Samsung came second with 8.5 million with 19% shares.
Realme came up in third place for the first time in India with a 49% year-on-year increase in volume that crossed 7 million shipments. Vivo and OPPO stood at fourth and fifth place with 5.6 million and 4.9 million units respectively.
Sanyam Chaurasia, Analyst at Canalys has said that India has seen an upward momentum towards future proof technologies, with smartphones being at the core of the digital ecosystem and growing ever more essential to the daily lives of Indian citizens.
