India Best In Technology On Security Of Clients' Securities: SEBI Chief
News Synopsis
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch on Friday said there is no better country in the world than India in the use of technology to protect the securities of clients.
He claimed that we frequently use technology to safeguard our clients' securities. The head of Sebi added that he frequently receives compliments from overseas investors about the country's data and technology culture, which makes the capital markets regulator's job effective.
Butch stated that there has been a significant shift in technology throughout the sector during his talk at the conference on "Data and Technology in Capital Markets." To protect the security of securities, we have taken action that has never before been taken anywhere in the world. India currently leads all other nations in the world in terms of margin and customer security of securities.
Buch claims that many of her coworkers were quite furious because they opposed disclosing the algorithm and questioned its motivation. Buch, though, asserted that she provided a justification for her actions. "The objective of the regulator is not to catch people doing bad things but to prevent them doing bad things. So, we declared that we are now going to make these 80 algos," She spoke out. Today, SEBI conducts inspections every three months rather than daily since the board preferred to give the industry time to identify and correct its own errors than to keep showing up every day, according to Buch.
