News Synopsis
Tech giant IBM is reportedly looking to sell Watson Health division for more than $1 billion. According to a media report of Axios, IBM has spent more than $4 billion through a series of acquisitions to build Watson Health.
The business now includes the health care data and analytics business, Truven Health Analytics; the population health company, Phytel and the medical imaging business Merge Healthcare.
The report said that IBM first traced the sale of the division to Morgan Stanley in early 2021. The Wall Street Journal reported at the time that the unit was generating about $1 billion in annual revenue, but was not making a profit.
