GOING GREEN: How Sustainable Technology Is Powering HP's Growth
News Synopsis
HP Inc set an ambitious sustainable impact agenda last year in order to grow its business in a sustainable and equitable manner with its employees, customers, and suppliers. It also prompted the American technology behemoth to establish broad 2030 targets to combat climate change, advance human rights, and accelerate digital equity. The amount of work required by HP to become fully sustainable is enormous. HP's Amplify Impact programme is expected to play a key role in this regard.
Cut to the present. HP has reported that it is making good progress toward its 2030 sustainability goals. This has inspired the Palo Alto, California-based company to expand its Amplify Impact programme, which extends the company's sustainable impact strategy and invites partners to drive meaningful change across the global IT industry. Notably, HP has reported $3.5 billion in sales associated with sustainability in the last three years by partnering with the global channel ecosystem.
Carbon emissions, forests, and circularity, according to HP officials, all fall under the umbrella of sustainability. HP Inc.'s chief sustainability officer, James McCall, provided data points such as achieving net zero emissions by 2040 and a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through the value chain by 2030. HP's carbon footprint in 2021 was 9% lower than in 2019, owing primarily to improvements in energy efficiency across its product portfolio.
