Former Bajaj group chairman Rahul Bajaj passes away

Today, the Former Chairman of the Bajaj group and billionaire Rahul Bajaj passed away in Pune. Bajaj group is one of the leading industrialist groups in India. It comprises Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finserv, and a holding company. The veteran industrialist was 83 years old and was suffering from cancer for a long time. His grandfather Jamnalal Bajaj started the Bajaj group way back in 1926. Rahul Bajaj took over the company from his father Kamalnayan Bajaj in 1968. Rahul Bajaj was born on June 30, 1938, in Kolkata. He completed his education at St. Stephens College and did his MBA from Harvard University. He also completed a law degree from Bombay University. He was elected as a member of Rajya Sabha in 2006 from Maharashtra and received Padma Bhushan in 2001. He was in charge of marketing, accounts, purchase, audit, etc. His sons Rajiv Bajaj and Sanjiv Bajaj are now managing the day-to-day affairs of the company, with Rajiv Bajaj being the managing director of the group.
