Explosion at Tata Steel Coke plant in Jamshedpur

On Saturday, an official of Tata Steel informed that after an explosion in a gas pipeline at the Tata Steel plant in Jamshedpur, three people sustained minor injuries. He further said that injured employees were rushed to the Tata Main Hospital and were provided the necessary treatment.
The blast in the gas pipeline occurred around 10.20 am. In a statement, Tata Steel stated, "This morning, we reported an incident of blasting sound in a coke plant unit, which was non-operational and is undergoing a dismantling process, at our Jamshedpur Works. Our emergency response team immediately reached the incident site; the area was cordoned off and the situation was brought under control.”
Further, the steelmaker said that two of the injured employees have been discharged and one is under observation. Also, the production of steel at the plant remains unaffected. The incident was immediately reported to concerned authorities, and further investigation to discover the cause of the explosion has been launched.
Hemant Soren, Chief Minister of Jharkhand expressed his concern and tweeted: "We have received information of blast at Tata Steel plant. The district administration in coordination with the Tata Steel management is taking action for the speedy treatment of the injured."
