Efficient Logistics Ecosystem Will Drive Us Through Amrit Kaal To Become Atmanirbhar Bharat: Mr. Piyush Goyal

Mr. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Textiles, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, stated during a one-day workshop on "Logistics Cost Framework" held in New Delhi by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB), that the journey from India@75 to India@100 requires an efficient logistics ecosystem to drive us through Amrit Kaal to become Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The PM GatiShakti Initiative, together with other infrastructure development initiatives like as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, and the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), would cut India's logistics costs from double digits to single digits.

For assessing logistics costs, he suggested taking into account India's geography, terrain, size, and complexity, as well as trade volume and value, among other factors.

According to him, India is currently the fifth largest country in the world, up from tenth in terms of GDP nine years ago. India will overtake the second and third-largest nations in the globe during the next two to three years as a result of substantial infrastructure projects that will be completed between April 2023 and March 2024.

He went on to say that E-commerce, smarter FTAs, adopting international quality standards, good manufacturing practices, capitalizing on our successful startup ecosystem, implementing National Education Policy 2020, drone technology, artificial intelligence, strong PPP collaborations, and Centre-State partnerships will all contribute to India's development. Logistics in India as a policy instrument will aid in the achievement of the goals of ‘Serve the world from India’ and ‘Make in India for the world.’
