News Synopsis

A mega textile park will be built on 1,161 acres in Attari village, Malihabad tehsil, Lucknow district. The proposed facility would be known as the Sant Kabir PM Mitra Textile and Apparel Park, according to a state government spokesperson.

The government intends to make it a hub for textile business and other activities for the state's 15 districts, according to the official. The park would be along National Highway-30, allowing for convenient access to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana.

The closeness to the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow, as well as the link with the Lucknow-Hardoi highway, will be a benefit.

The park would include units for chikankari, zari zardozi works from Lucknow, handloom works from Hardoi and Barabanki, carpets from Sitapur, and unique works from Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, and Rampur districts.

The facility would also include silk, handloom, and textile clusters from Mau, Varanasi, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, according to the official.

"The Uttar Pradesh government has already undertaken an assessment of water supply and solid waste management in the huge textile park. He stated that the area has ample water resources and that a waste-to-energy plant is constructed in Shivri village near Mohan Road.

The 1000-acre Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park (PM MITRA) project would cost Rs 1,200 crore and will be built in Lucknow.

Reacting to PM Narendra Modi's announcement regarding the project in New Delhi on Friday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath took to Twitter to express his gratitude on behalf of the state's 25 crore people for the mega project. He stated that the initiative will put the Prime Minister's resolutions of "Make-in-India" and "Make-for-the-World" into action on the ground.

“This textile park will give a new identity to Uttar Pradesh’s textile industry, besides creating huge investment possibilities and lakhs of jobs,”  he added. The CM said that the park will house all of the state's textile-related facilities under one roof. It would also benefit artisans, weavers, and those involved in handicrafts in UP. According to highly placed official sources, the Yogi government would construct a Special Purpose Vehicle to ensure that the project's modalities are completed as quickly as possible.
