News Synopsis

Quick commerce unicorn Zepto has reached a significant milestone, with its 10-minute food delivery service, Zepto Café, crossing 1 lakh daily orders. CEO Aadit Palicha took to social media platforms X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn to announce the achievement.

In his post, Palicha highlighted that this volume translates to a $100 million annualized GMV (Gross Merchandise Value), with a steady-state gross margin of approximately 50%. He also compared this rapid growth to some of the leading Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chains in India, stating that Zepto Café has already reached 10% of their scale.

Zepto Café’s Rapid Growth in Just Two Weeks

This milestone comes just two weeks after Zepto had announced hitting 75,000 daily orders. The company has been expanding aggressively, with over 100 new cafés launched every month. Previously, Palicha had shared that Zepto Café had been processing more than 30,000 orders per day, showing a sharp upward trajectory.

Despite the challenges of setting up and scaling an on-demand food delivery business, the Zepto team remained committed due to strong customer retention and growing demand. Palicha acknowledged the execution complexities and multiple do-or-die challenges, stating that several hurdles are still being tackled.

Aadit Palicha’s Vision for Zepto Café

Palicha expressed confidence in the long-term potential of Zepto Café, calling it the beginning of a revolution in India's QSR industry. He emphasized that while the journey has not been easy, the company's perseverance is paying off.

Zepto Café was initially launched as part of Zepto's quick commerce app, but due to high demand, it was later introduced as a standalone app to capitalize on the booming 10-minute food delivery market.

The Future of Quick Commerce and Zepto Café

The growth of Zepto Café signals a shift in consumer behavior towards instant food delivery, mirroring the success of Zepto’s quick commerce model. As more customers embrace fast and convenient dining options, Zepto Café is well-positioned to disrupt the traditional food delivery and QSR markets.

With aggressive expansion plans, Zepto aims to further enhance its logistics, increase café partnerships, and improve order fulfillment efficiency. The company is on track to redefine India’s QSR landscape, competing directly with established players in the space.
