HAL delivers the First Made in India Dornier 228

On Thursday, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has delivered the first made in India Dornier 228. It has been delivered to Alliance Airlines. Alliance Airlines is a division of Air India. The total carrying capacity of this aircraft is 17 passengers. It is a non-pressurized airplane. This can operate both in day and night. This aircraft is developed and manufactured with the aim to enhance and boost regional air connectivity in India. This light aircraft has an air-conditioned cabin. Bengaluru headquartered, state-backed aerospace and defense company, HAL, in the month of September, had inked a lease agreement with Alliance Air. According to the deal, two civil Dornier 228 will be provided to the airline by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. HAL claims this aircraft to be a ‘highly versatile multi purpose light transport aircraft. The aircraft measures 16.56 metre in length and has a wingspan of 16.97 metres. It consumes 213 kg of fuel in one hour. The top speed of this aircraft is 428 kmph. It can land and take off on short runways and can also do this from semi prepared runways. Until now, this aircraft was only used by the armed forces of the India.
