News Synopsis

Following recent tariff revisions by major Indian telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vi, a new battleground has emerged: unlimited 5G data access. Both Jio and Airtel have introduced data booster plans to cater to users on lower-tier plans who previously lacked access to unlimited 5G.

Countering Jio's Move: Airtel Launches Unlimited 5G Booster Packs

In response to Jio's introduction of data booster plans with unlimited 5G, Airtel has unveiled its own set of similar plans. These plans are designed to be add-ons to existing Airtel prepaid plans and provide users with additional 4G data alongside unlimited 5G access.

Airtel's Unlimited 5G Data Booster plans come in three denominations:

  • Rs 51 Plan: This plan offers 3GB of additional 4G data along with unlimited 5G data.

  • Rs 101 Plan: Priced at Rs 101, this plan provides 6GB of 4G data on top of unlimited 5G data.

  • Rs 151 Plan: The most expensive option offers 9GB of 4G data along with unlimited 5G data access.

The validity of these Airtel booster packs aligns with the validity of the user's base plan, ensuring seamless data usage.

Airtel vs. Jio: A Head-to-Head Comparison of 5G Booster Plans

Interestingly, there's no difference in pricing or benefits between Airtel and Jio's Unlimited 5G Data Booster plans. Both providers offer identical plans at Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151, providing users with the same amount of additional 4G data alongside unlimited 5G access.

Jio's Rs 470 Prepaid Plan: Alternative Option for Wi-Fi Users:

For users with consistent Wi-Fi access at home and work, Jio's Rs 470 prepaid plan remains an attractive option. This plan offers a longer validity period of 84 days and can be a cost-effective solution for those who primarily rely on Wi-Fi and require only occasional mobile data usage.

The Battle for 5G Dominance Continues

The introduction of these data booster plans highlights the ongoing competition between Jio and Airtel in the Indian telecom market. Both companies are vying to attract users seeking affordable access to 5G data services. While the current offerings are identical, it will be interesting to see if either provider introduces further differentiation in terms of pricing, data allowances, or additional benefits in the future.
