Shreyas Iyer became the highest paid player in IPL auction

Shreyash Iyer has become the highest-paid player among the marquee set with Kolkata Knight Riders clinching him for Rs 12.25 crore after an intense bidding war at the Indian Premier League auction. Other than Shreyas Iyer, Harshal Patel was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10.75 crore. Veteran players like Shikhar Dhawan bought Rs 8.25 crore by Punjab Kings and Mohammad Shami was gone to Gujarat Titans for Rs 6.25 crore. Among foreign players, T20 specialists including West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, South Africa speedster Kagiso Rabada, and hard-hitting Shimron Hetmyer all breached the million-dollar mark. Other than Sreyas Iyer, KKR has also got hold of T20 specialist Nitish Rana for Rs 8 crore, and Cummins for Rs 15 crore. The CEO Venky Mysore was very pleased with the outcome of the auction. However, Chennai Super Kings, save for retaining MS Dhoni's trusted lieutenant Dwayne Bravo for Rs 4.40 crore. Mumbai Indians have not made any big bid yet as the team is probably waiting to retain Ishan Kishan. But, Lucknow once again got the better of them with a Rs 5.75 crore bid for Syed Mushtaq Ali.
