Remains Of 'Big John', The Largest Known Triceratops Sold For Nearly $8 Million

The fossil remains of 'Big John', the biggest dinosaur ever discovered are being auctioned at the Paris auction. The fossils were found in 2014 and are 2.62 meters long and 2 meters wide. The name of the fossil dinosaur is given at the name of the landowner where it was found. 

The fossils are purchased by an American collector who has bought the fossil at a cost of nearly $8 million. A representative of the buyer has said that the buyer is absolutely thrilled with the idea of being able to personally have a piece like this.

The paleontologists were able to find 60% of the skeleton by the 2015. In a time taking process, over 200 pieces of the bones were put together in Italy to prepare the whole skeleton for the Paris auction. The skeleton was on display for the visitors before the auction. The buyer has kept his identity unknown. 

This is not the first time when a dinosaur skeleton is sold in an auction. Previously, a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton was sold in an auction for $31.8 million in New York last year.
