Noida And Greater Noida Are The Second Most Polluted Cities Of NCR
News Synopsis
Noida and Greater Noida remained the second most polluted cities in NCR on Monday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of both cities stood at 254. On the other hand, Noida and Greno ranked seventh on the list of polluted cities in the country. The Greno Authority and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) are not following the norms of Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAPE). There is no sprinkling of water on the roads.
The air pollution has started increasing as the effect of the last few showers of rain has subsided. On Monday, the AQI of Noida and Greno stood at 254 in the Orange Zone, while the AQI was 258 a day earlier. The AQI of both cities has improved by just four points, but air pollution is more likely to increase in the coming days. In such a situation, it will become difficult for the people of the district to breathe in the poisonous air.
The most polluted city in NCR has been Faridabad (286 AQI). Noida-Greno at number two, Ghaziabad at number three, and Delhi at number four. The most polluted cities of the country have also been around Delhi-NCR. Meerut (333 AQI) remained the most polluted city. Muzaffarnagar (314 AQI) was number two.
In Greno and Noida, there are no provisions in place to reduce air pollution. Additionally, the GRAP guidelines are not being followed. Rules for Stage 2 are in effect when the AQI is 200 to 300. To prevent dusting, rubbish disposal, machine road cleaning, anti-smog gun use, and water sprinkling, the Greno authority is not abiding by the requirements. Therefore, it is not anticipated that the air quality will improve.
