NASA And Hideo Kojima Collaborated For A Ludens-Inspired Watch
News Synopsis
The collaboration between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA and Hideo Kojima is exceptional, but not because of the project itself. After all, the mascot of Kojima Productions is a character by the name of Ludens, who is represented as an astronaut exploring digital space while donning an extravehicular activity spacesuit. No, it's that they worked together to create a watch. The Space Ludens watch, which is based on the mascot of the video game developer, is not even a smartwatch.
Anicorn, a design studio and watchmaker that has previously collaborated with NASA on other watches and merchandise, created the watch and will sell it.
According to IGN, it is based after the spacesuit worn by Ludens, with its gray/silver hue and gold accents and screws. Its watchface is adorned with the NASA emblem and the phrase "Extra-Vehicular Creative Activity Suit." Underneath, the translucent case revealing the watch's mechanisms is inscribed with the Kojima Productions emblem.
Although you probably won't think of a watch when you hear that Kojima and NASA collaborated, it does seem fairly cool and might interest fans of either organisation. On September 27, the Space Ludens watch will be made available in a limited quantity.
There will be just 600 pieces available for purchase, and 100 of them will come with a mask resembling the prominent skull in the Kojima Productions emblem. Anicorn has not yet disclosed the price, but its previous NASA watches are expensive and cost over $1,000.
