Intel announced a 12th-gen desktop CPU at CES 2022

News Synopsis

Intel, the chip manufacturer has announced a new 12th-gen desktop CPU at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2022. The 12th-gen desktop CPU is capable of boosting to 5.5GHz on a single core out of the box. 

The company presented the CPU during its presentation at the CES 2022. It also said that the shipping of the KS-series desktop processor would start later this quarter but there was no update given on the price of the processor.

The full name of the chip is Core i9-12900KS. According to an online publication, Tom’s Software, the “S” in the name is an indication of the chip being a limited edition. 

During the presentation, a demonstration was also given of the new CPU. 

The executive vice president Gregory Bryant also announced that the CPU would be shipped to “OEM customers” indicating that the users will have to buy a prebuilt PC to get the chip.
