FIFA Suspends All India Football Federation

All India Football Federation (AIFF) will be suspended immediately, according to a decision made by FIFA, the world's governing body of football, on Tuesday. 

The decision was made unanimously by the FIFA Council Bureau. The choice was made as a result of improper interference from outside parties, which is a significant breach of the FIFA Statutes. Due to improper interference from third parties, which is a major infraction, the FIFA Council's Bureau has unanimously resolved to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with immediate effect.

The body further stated that the suspension would be removed as soon as the order to form a committee of administrators to exercise the authority of the AIFF Executive Committee had been revoked and the AIFF administration had reclaimed complete control over the organization's day-to-day operations. 

The announcement went on to say that "the suspension means that the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022, scheduled to take place in India on October 11–30, 2022, cannot currently be hosted in India as planned." 

FIFA is evaluating the tournament's next moves as well and, if and when appropriate, will bring the issue to the Bureau of the Council. "FIFA is in constant constructive contact with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and is hopeful that a positive outcome to the case may still be achieved," stated the release.
