News Synopsis

BMW is preparing to launch the refreshed version of its entry-level luxury sedan, the 2 Series Gran Coupe, in India by mid-2025. With major updates in styling, performance, and technology, the new model aims to deliver a more refined and premium experience.

Chassis and Driving Dynamics

Unlike its rear-wheel-drive siblings—the M2 and 2 Series Coupe—the 2 Series Gran Coupe is built on a front-wheel-drive architecture. For the 2025 model year, BMW has made several upgrades to improve driving dynamics. The reinforced chassis includes new multi-valve dampers and stiffer components, contributing to a more rigid structure. This helps improve feedback and control, especially during spirited driving.

In addition, BMW has altered the front axle geometry by increasing the caster angle for better directional stability. The rear suspension now includes a pre-loaded anti-roll bar that engages earlier, enhancing stability through sharp corners.

Exterior Design Updates

The 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe features subtle yet impactful exterior design changes. At the front, the grille has been resized and now sports a blacked-out finish inspired by the brand’s M performance models. Redesigned LED headlamps offer a sleeker and more aggressive appearance.

While the car’s signature sloping roofline and compact proportions remain intact, the wheel arches have been enlarged to accommodate wider and taller wheels. This gives the car a more grounded and dynamic stance. At the rear, the glass now flows seamlessly into the boot lid, which provides 430 litres of cargo space. However, the vehicle does not come with a space-saver spare wheel. The tail lamps also feature a more angular, dramatic design to match the car’s sporty persona.

Interior and Features

Inside, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe embraces BMW’s latest design philosophy. A sweeping curved display combines the infotainment and instrument cluster into one cohesive unit, powered by the brand’s next-gen OS9 interface. The cabin now features vegan-friendly upholstery, underlining BMW’s commitment to sustainability.

The feature list includes a multifunction steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, a 10-inch digital driver’s display, and a high-end 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. These additions ensure a tech-forward and comfortable driving environment.

Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe introduces a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, supported by a mild-hybrid system. While slightly detuned from the previous version, the new engine generates 168bhp and 280Nm of torque. The hybrid assist enhances throttle response and overall drivability, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.

BMW is also expected to continue offering a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel variant. This engine is estimated to deliver around 160bhp and 400Nm of torque, slightly reduced from the previous model but still capable of delivering robust performance.

Conclusion

With a launch slated for mid-2025, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe brings several upgrades in styling, tech, and performance. Aimed at buyers seeking a blend of sporty handling, premium features, and everyday practicality, the updated model is set to bolster BMW’s entry-level luxury offering in India.
