News Synopsis

The popular sing and dance video Baby Shark Dance has crossed 10 billion views on Youtube and has become the first-ever video to do so. The children’s song has surpassed the music video of “Despacito”, the megahit of Louis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

Baby Shark was released in June 2016 as a part of the South Korean band Pinkfong’s dong series focused on children and has become a global phenomenon ever since with its catchy tune and addictive lyrics.

It has also set a new Guinness World Record title for the most viewed video on YouTube with 7 billion views in November 2020. Pinkfong, the band that released the song, has said that 10 billion is a huge number, even surpassing the population of 7.8 billion as announced by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
