Apple Fires Employees That Led The #appletoo Movement

Sexual harassment in the workplace is very common. Many women go through it but most of these instances remain hidden under the blanket because of hierarchical structure. And the ones that are reported, are dealt with internally without the involvement of the judiciary. Such is the world that we live in. But over the years, feminist groups and women's rights groups have fought hard to bring this issue to the forefront. They have collectively protested against this practice and have asked companies to bring about changes at the policy level. 

But since most of these companies are run by men, the change has been slow and steady. Recently, an Apple employee called Janneke Parrish was fired by the company on the claims that she deleted apps on her device during an ongoing investigation. Although the company cites this reason, Parrish believes that the real reason behind her suspension is that she led the #Appletoo movement which was about workplace sexual harassment.

Although companies claim that they stand for truth and fair practice and encourage employees to disagree with them. But the reality differs wildly from this. This is the second incident within a month that Apple has fired an employee after they spoke against the company's working culture. This is typical of big corporations that want to continue doing what they do without having to face any consequences.
