India has officially expressed its intent to host the 2036 Olympics, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi setting Ahmedabad as the potential host city. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed this ambition during an event in Gujarat, marking the first official statement from the government regarding the host city for the prestigious event.

India Submits Letter of Intent to IOC

On October 1, India submitted a formal letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Future Host Commission, signaling its readiness to engage in structured dialogue about hosting the 2036 Olympics. While the letter does not specify a particular city, the announcement by Amit Shah highlights Ahmedabad as the focal point of India’s plans.

Vadnagar’s Connection to PM Modi

During his speech, Amit Shah emphasized the significance of Vadnagar, the birthplace of PM Modi, and its role in shaping his vision. He noted, “Vadnagar is one of the most ancient cities, influencing Indian culture for thousands of years.” The recently inaugurated Vadnagar Museum, built at a cost of ₹300 crores, showcases the city’s 2,500-year history, offering insights into ancient culture, business, education, and governance.

2. Sports Complex in Ahmedabad

A newly inaugurated sports complex aligns with PM Modi’s goal of hosting the 2036 Olympics. The facility is envisioned to train young athletes from Vadnagar and beyond to participate in the global event.

PM Modi’s Inspirational Journey

Amit Shah hailed PM Modi’s extraordinary journey from a humble tea-seller in Vadnagar to a global leader. Shah remarked, “Modi’s life will be a subject of study for students across the globe.” He highlighted Modi’s commitment to eradicating poverty and serving the nation without harboring bitterness from his difficult childhood.
