News Synopsis

The Union Government announced the New Education Policy in the year 2020 and announced significant reforms to be implemented in the Education system. New Education Policy aims to transform the current education structure and make it more effective and efficient. Ministry of Education said that the New Education Policy is based on four pillars - Access, Equity, Quality, and Accountability. The vision of NEP 2020 is to make an India Centred education system that directly contributes to the evolution of our nation enduring into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by giving them a top-class quality of education. There have been some changes in the structure of current education systems such as the 10+2 pattern will now be 5+3+3+4 that will comprise 12 years of school and three years of pre-school. Ethical reasoning, socio-emotional learning, quantitative and logical reasoning, digital literacy, computational thinking, etc will now be part of students' life at every stage. Emphasis on imparting education in regional and local languages will be done.
