Zee-Sony Merger: Agree To Address Anti-Competitive Concerns, 3 Hindi Channels To Be Sold

Sony and Zee, two media conglomerates, have voluntarily agreed to sell Big Magic, Zee Action, and Zee Classic in order to resolve potential anti-competitive issues raised by their proposed mega-merger agreement.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI), to which they had filed their request, authorized the deal on October 4 with a few revisions. The regulator released its thorough 58-page order on Wednesday, more than three weeks after approving the merger.
The two organizations have agreed to sell Big Magic, a Hindi entertainment channel, as well as Zee Action and Zee Classic, Hindi cinema networks, in accordance with the ruling. On October 4, the CCI said that the proposed Zee-Sony merger agreement, which had been made public in September of the previous year, had been authorized.
