WhatsApp Developing 2-Step Verification for Web and Desktop App
News Synopsis
WhatsApp is developing the two-step verification to its desktop app and web version. According to a screenshot released by WABetaInfo, the two-step verification feature can be enabled and disabled on the web and its desktop app.
The two-step verification is already available on the mobile application of WhatsApp that requires a personal pin while the user registers a phone number with WhatsApp. It is also testing the possibility to allow users to transfer their chats from Android to iPhone devices.
This feature was noticed while developing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS v22.2.74. It is not available to the public yet and is believed that WhatsApp will rely on an application called Move for the data transfer from Android to iOS. WABetaInfo has added that the two-step verification will allow users to restore the chats with a reset link.
