After the success of Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico,’ we have another movie that will take back to the time when our parents were children and used to listen to classic songs. This movie is one of the finest ever made by the legendary director who goes by the name of Quentin Tarantino.
Do you know him? No?
Have you seen Kill Bill Vol. 1? Yes? That was the brainchild of Quentin Tarantino. You are now in for a treat with the brand-new entry from the same director.
This article will help you understand the plot of the movie so that you don’t lose track of the story amidst the cinematography and the direction of the movie. The name of the movie is ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’
The Explanation of "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood"
The movie is quite simple yet amazing to watch. Here we will explain the movie in short so that you can experience the movie in your living rooms after reading this short coverage.
Once upon a time in Hollywood is set in the 60s. The story revolves around a fading actor who goes by the name of Rick Dalton (portrayed by Leonardo Di Caprio). Nowadays, he is only cast as a villain, and most of them are guest appearances. His casting director, Marvin Schwarz (Al Pacino), tells him to make Spaghetti Westerns in France. Dalton feels like this thing is not for him as he deserves better. His Friend is a stunt double who lives in a trailer. His name is Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). He is a War veteran. Besides living in a trailer, he has a pit bull with whom he shares the trailer. Both Dalton and booth often stay together as booth drives for Dalton because his license was suspended.
Soon, Sharon Tate and her husband, Roman Polanski (Director), become new neighbors of Dalton. Seeing a director living next to them, Dalton decides to be friends with the couple and get a chance in movies and revive his career. The Polanski couple joins a party in the Playboy mansion that same night.
The very next day, Booth recalls having a sparring contest with Bruce Lee. Yes, Bruce Lee was also a part of real-life events and was mentioned in the movie as well. Anyway, this sparring event gets Booth fired. It all happens on the sets of The Green Hornet, where Bruce Lee is playing the role of Kato. Meanwhile, guess who comes at the doorsteps of the Polanski Residence? Charlie, the leader of the Manson Family. He is there to know the whereabouts of Terry Melcher (the former owner of the place) but is shooed away by Jay Sebring (a celebrity hairstylist).
Dalton is again offered to play the villain in a Tv series called Lancer. He tries to talk to her eight-year-old co-star, Trudi Frazer. However, Dalton fails to remember the dialogue and suffers a breakdown in his trailer. After a while, he delivers the dialogues and impresses both Trudi and the director, Sam Wanamaker.
Meanwhile, Booth picks up a hitchhiker called ‘pussycat’ and takes her to Spahn Ranch, where he had worked in a movie. He notices that many hippies are there on the ranch. He decides to talk to the owner about this. At the same time, a Manson Family member named Clem punctures the car in which Booth came. Booth starts beating Clem and forces him to change the tire.
Now the movie climax is about to start, and I hope it will do justice to the movie and real-life events.
On August 8, 1968, Dalton and Booth go for a drink after getting back to LA after filming three movies. After that, Booth smokes LSD – laced cigarettes. Soon he goes out for a walk with his pit bull, Brandy, and Dalton prepares the drinks.
Soon the Manson family attacks with a motive to kill everyone at Tate’s Residence. As Sadie enters the house of Dalton, she encounters Booth. Tex is killed by his dog. Booth gets stabbed in the thigh and passes put before killing another Manson Family member called Katie in the brawl. After all this mess, Dalton was invited to Tate’s house for tea.
This movie was shot in such a way that it represents the vintage style of lifestyle that you will find very interesting. Being the 9th movie of the legendary director Quentin Tarantino, it has garnered a good amount of likability. Telling it in a story form will not do justice to the movie, so I would say watch the movie and enjoy the brilliance of real events depicted by the evergreen director.
