‘The Intern’, a 2015 movie by Warner Bros. starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, revolves around the story of an old widower who gets sick of his retirement and wishes to work further, and a young businesswoman whose plate is overflowing with her relationship with her husband, her skyrocketing business which is becoming tough to manage, her pride, and one who thinks hiring old interns wasn’t a great idea. But soon she gets to know, how it all changes.

In the film, Anne Hathaway plays the founder of an online store that has recently started using senior citizens as interns. Playing Hathaways' office assistant is Robert DeNiro. The humorous movie included teamwork, intergenerational conversations, complex office dynamics, and collaboration that had some striking parallels to the modern federal workforce. An entrepreneur can take away so many valuable lessons from the movie- THE INTERN

Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway are the stars of the American comedy The Intern, which was written and directed by Nancy Meyers. It centers on a 70-year-old widower who joins a website for online fashion as a senior intern.

The difficulty is that Ben Whitakker (Robert De Niro) applies to a program for older citizens who want to intern because he finds retirement to be too monotonous. He has a terrific life and is bursting with vitality, but now that his wife has passed away, he needs something to focus on. He learned yoga, mandarin, and other subjects, but a profession is what he really wants. So it appears that he will benefit much from this internship. He submits an application to a rapidly expanding e-commerce fashion startup, impresses everyone, and is recruited. Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the company's founder, is one person who is not very fond of the idea.

Jules Ostin, the business's founder, is played by Anne Hathaway. She is initially skeptical, but as the story progresses, she realizes how wonderful Ben is.

Through the course of the movie and the development of their relationship, numerous lessons emerge that we want to focus on today. Here are some life lessons you can learn from this movie.

Lessons From The Movie- THE INTERN

1. Trust

Books, stories, movies, and whatnot, still even the summation of all of them can not make you realize the importance of this value and the worth it carries with it. You can truly know this once you experience it. How trust is built up gradually in the characters with time is remarkable. Having someone you can trust is absolute bliss, nurture and take care of it because valuable as it is, delicate it gets.

2. Your Dreams

The relationship with our dreams is like that of a child with his parents. Only the parents can guess how their ward is doing, and it is doubtful for any other parent to completely understand anyone else’s child. The same goes with your dream; only you hold the ability to understand the value your dream carries. Again, it’s unlikely that anyone else would. In some cases, even loved ones don’t understand how much your dream means to you. You can’t rely on people to understand you or your dream, so you better tighten your belt and get to act on and cherish your dreams all by yourself.

3. Take some time out of work

This is one of the lessons you have to learn for yourself because it is shown indirectly. Anne Hathway(playing Jules Ostin) is so involved in her business and venture that she hardly gets to take out time for her family.  And this is the value she herself learns as the movie proceeds. Not giving their family much time itself caused mental chaos for her, piling it over other burdens. And you surely don’t wish for your family to stand over your head when the whole world is crushing you.

4. Entrepreneurship sucks without access

This is one of the most important lessons to learn from this movie. It is shown from the beginning and is spread throughout the movie. You will see Anne(Jules) riding cycles across the floor she works on, passing through every desk and greeting everyone. The message she portrays through this act of hers is that as a budding entrepreneur, you must be accessible to almost everyone who works under you. Since it’s the beginning of your career and theirs, they want to be heard the most and make sure their idea is on the table too.

5. Never Underestimate others

Again, this is a spectacular idea that we tend to ignore because of our own personal reasons, the most known of them being ego, over-confidence, etc. You will get to know how Anne underestimates old interns’ assistance in their firm, where everything demands to be as updated as possible. But soon, she gets to know a little advice from the old ones is not that after all, rather the discussion you will watch in this movie, will all convey little messages for millennials and gen-z which seem to be rusty and of no more use. Still, these are the very messages that change the lives of people around them. One of these lessons is being a gentleman and carrying two handkerchiefs at all times. Yes, I see that smirk on your face that exclaims what a stupid lesson. Well, watch the movie, and you will get to know it saves people many times. You’ll see how a mere handkerchief almost saves a relationship from breaking.

6. The Secret to Success Is Healthy Habits

Ben gets to bed around 10 o'clock and rises at the same time every day. He routinely exercises as well, with Tai Chi being his favorite. The body can obtain the right quantity of sleep, repair, and boost the immune system with the help of regular sleep routines. Similarly, regardless of age, regular exercise strengthens and improves biological functioning. For an entrepreneur to succeed, good habits are important.

7. It's never too late to learn a new skill

Ben, played by Robert De Niro, is a 70-year-old retiree who is full of life and constantly trying new things. He is given the chance to work as a senior intern for a successful online fashion store. Ben is not frightened by the new technology. With the help of his younger coworkers and his grandson, who explains what a USB is to him, he learns how to operate a computer from scratch. He recognizes the value of adopting the most recent innovations and values the youthful energy and creativity that are powering the tech industry today.

8. Avoid prejudices

Jules didn't like Ben at first because he was old and, aside from the fact that she doesn't get along well with the elderly, there was also the question of what a 70-year-old man could do in today's technologically advanced world of websites and applications. She holds that opinion. But she soon discovers that Ben has a strong desire to learn in addition to his amazing skills. He has the capacity to learn anything. Yes, he is not particularly skilled with computers, but he makes an effort and manages to use them. How mistaken Jules was at first. We must allow others the chance to surprise us.

It is full of more lessons like these; every conversation has a hidden message behind it. So watch for yourselves and learn. Happy learning!
