India Slips Seven Postitons In Global Hunger Index

India has faced a hard time due to the after-effects of pandemics. This has caused harm in not only one but almost all the sectors of the country. In the recently released Global Hunger Index, India came at spot 101 out of 116 countries. The top places were captured by the countries like China, Brazil, and Kuwait with a score of less than five according to the official website of Global Hunger Index.

In 2020, India has 94th spot among 107 countries, and this year it dropped to 101 this year. India's Global Hunger Index score has also fallen from 38.8 in 2000 to 28.8 - 27.5 between 2012 and 2021.

The Global Health Index score is calculated under four indicators, Undernouridhment, Child Wasting, Child Stunting, and Child Mortality. The percentage of children wasting raised from 17.1% to 17.3% during 2016-2020 and with this India has become the country with the highest Child Wasting Rate in the world. The report has also mentioned the improvement in the under 5 Mortality rate, Child Stunting, and Undernourishment. 

The report also said that it is difficult to stay optimistic in 2021 due to the pandemic and its effects all around the world. It can be also caused due to climate change and covid 19 and conflict and these are the reasons for wiping out any type of progress against hunger in the past years.
