News Synopsis

At the Seoul Mobility Show 2025, Hyundai Motor Company officially introduced the all-new NEXO—its second-generation hydrogen-powered SUV. This latest Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) represents Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to sustainable innovation and aims to redefine hydrogen mobility standards by offering exceptional efficiency, safety, and design.

Zero-Emission Performance with Enhanced Range

The next-generation NEXO boasts a driving range of over 700 kilometers on a single hydrogen refill—completed in just five minutes. This long range, combined with zero tailpipe emissions, makes it ideal for environmentally conscious consumers seeking clean transportation without compromising on convenience.

Designed for Modern Mobility

The all-new NEXO is engineered with safety and versatility in mind. Hyundai has leveraged nearly 30 years of fuel cell technology experience to create an SUV that balances high performance with daily usability. Whether navigating urban roads or tackling rural terrain, the NEXO promises reliability and flexibility.

Sophisticated Design Inspired by Strength

Hyundai has elevated the NEXO’s aesthetics with a sleek, modern exterior. The SUV features an arch-shaped silhouette, providing both visual appeal and structural resilience. Distinctive horizontal grooves along the doors contribute to its rugged look, while the standout ‘HTWO’ Lamps signal Hyundai’s hydrogen vision.

Nighttime visibility is enhanced by the brand’s signature 4 Dot Lamps, giving the NEXO a futuristic road presence. Offered in six color options, including the Korea-inspired Goyo Copper Pearl, the NEXO effortlessly blends tradition with innovation.

Major Upgrades in Powertrain and Efficiency

The new NEXO is equipped with significant advancements in its fuel cell and electric drive systems. A newly developed motor system boosts total output from 135 kW to 190 kW, and battery capacity has been doubled from 40 kW to 80 kW.

This results in an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.8 seconds, significantly faster than its predecessor. The hydrogen fuel cell stack now produces 110 kW—an increase of 16%—while the 150 kW electric motor delivers responsive and refined driving dynamics.

Additionally, Hyundai has improved the system’s cold-weather performance, incorporating an anti-freezing function to ensure reliable operation across varied climates.

Reinforced Structure for Enhanced Safety

Built on third-generation ultra-high-strength steel, the NEXO offers improved crash protection and structural integrity. Reinforcements in the front-end and lower side sections enhance impact absorption, while an optimized crash load path ensures better safety during collisions.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

The all-new NEXO is equipped with Hyundai’s latest suite of ADAS technologies, making driving safer and more convenient. Key safety features include:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)

  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)

  • Highway Driving Assist (HDA)

Additional features such as Smart Cruise Control, a Surround View Monitor, and Remote Smart Parking Assist add layers of convenience and peace of mind.

Part of Hyundai’s Broader Electrification Strategy

The new NEXO is a critical element in Hyundai’s multi-pronged electrification approach, which includes hydrogen fuel cell, battery electric, and hybrid vehicles. With this launch, Hyundai is not just expanding its green vehicle lineup—it is pushing the boundaries of sustainable mobility worldwide.
