ThinkWithNiche writes about the emerging trends in the Fashion World in the online space and beyond! The fashion eCommerce sector has always boldly worn change as if it were Prada on a model's arm. Change is a big aspect of the fashion industry's identity, and it happens every year at practically every seasonal fashion show. However, the coming year may see the industry undergo its most significant upheaval yet. There are new designs for the fashion industry to try on as consumers and retailers deal with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. #TWN

Clothing that is both sustainable and inexpensive is on the rise, and the reCommerce business is expanding, with room to grow in the wake of global economic developments. The pandemic served as social proof that fashion is ever-changing. We were confined to our homes, but that didn't stop us from shopping. Whether it was the return of Crocs or the rise of Zoom wear, fashion continued to thrive despite the tumult. What trends have we noticed picking up steam as we head into the year 2022? What does this portend for the future year?

AI in Fashion

AI has been used by brands to improve customer shopping experiences, analyze data, boost sales, forecast trends, and provide inventory-related advice in recent years. In-store chatbots and touchscreens are being utilized to improve customer experience and provide personalized product recommendations. It's nearly difficult to visit a fashion brand's website and not come across some type of artificial intelligence (AI) chat technology being utilized to improve the client experience. Algorithms that track clients' trips to pair them with the right products are part of AI technology.

Despite the promise of these customer service technology solutions, trend forecasting and supply chain management remain two of AI's most lucrative applications. Real-time inventory tracking, for example, has become critical for brands since it saves time and allows for more effective warehouse management and operations. Furthermore, firms could gain a major competitive advantage if inventory tracking is combined with AI's sophisticated data prediction tools for trend forecasting. Rather than depending simply on traditional methods of trend forecasting, which include observation and data collection from fashion designers, trend spotters, and influencers, firms now have quick access to data that allows them to plan the proper designs and quantities promptly.

Aesthetic Fashion

In recent years, a growing number of people have begun to use the term 'aesthetic' in the same way that they may use the term 'subculture.' Aesthetics, in this context, refers to internet trends that combine fashion, hobbies, music, and other interests into a coherent concept. These fads tend to create their ambiance or 'mood,' which is reflected in the content shared on sites like Tumblr and TikTok. They're both important because they serve as the foundation for a person's identity and appearance. Someone could, for example, use the term "aesthetic" to describe oneself or create art that fits into that category. We don't have time to go over every aesthetic on the internet, but we can concentrate on one subset: the -cores. The 'core' from 'hardcore' is combined with something associated with aesthetics in these blended words. Do you like black cats and cauldrons? Allow me to welcome you into the core coven. Are you more drawn to the bizarre? Weirdcore is the genre for you. Do you prefer a more soiled way of life?

Goblincore is a good place to start. Since 2016, the number of times these -cores have been mentioned has increased, eventually soaring in 2020. In 2021, the number of people declined somewhat but remained well above pre-2020 levels. The concept of gender and the "norms" that surround it are changing. Men and women have been segregated in society for ages. Many societies, however, are blurring the distinctions, and people are beginning to wear clothing that they feel comfortable in rather than what is assigned to them based on their gender. It has prompted the development of increasingly gender-neutral apparel. Only a few brands are completely genderless at the moment, although many are introducing unisex "Basics" lines. Blindness, One DNA, and Muttonhead are some of the most popular genderless brands. Although the majority of the fashion business is divided into "men's," "women's," "boys," and "girls," unisex choices allow people to avoid those labels if they desire.

ReCommerce

"ReCommerce" has grown in popularity during the last year. It refers to purchasing worn clothing from a thrift store, consignment shop, or an online seller. And as a matter of fact, "upcycling" and repurposing vintage items have also become popular. Upcycling is when someone takes an item of clothing and redesigns it to fit their style. It can include things like dying, cutting, and stitching clothes to create something new. Consumers also like ReCommerce since they can get gently used items for a tenth of the cost of new clothing.

Every day, mobile technology advances further. Mobile commerce is the ultimate digital tool, from Insta shopping to smart wallets. It has not only influenced our daily lives, but it has also become one of the fastest-growing segments of the eCommerce industry. According to Insider Intelligence, by 2021, mobile commerce will be worth $284 billion, accounting for 45 percent of the total e-commerce sector in the United States. It is largely due to the ease with which we can shop online using our cell phones. Apple and Android Pay, which are continually evolving with new technology like fingerprint and facial recognition, are poised to become the primary method of payment for retail purchases.

According to BigCommerce, two out of every three millennials prefer to purchase online rather than in-store. If we add social media to the mix (like Instagram's shopping function), firms can be present in their customers' favorite channels with a fully integrated digital commerce offering, on top of e-commerce growth. It increases their visibility and gives them more opportunities to sell. Similarly, sustainable fashion platforms have swept the market, displacing traditional second-hand fashion marketplaces such as eBay and Gumtree. These mobile sales sites have transformed the online sales sector, showcasing how mobile commerce is transforming the fashion industry from top to bottom.
