ChatGPT Has Become World's Fastest-Growing App, Records 100mn Users In 2 Month
News Synopsis
ChatGPT, a popular artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, is said to have 100 million users just two months after its launch. According to a similar web report, the chatbot had 13 million users per day in January. Other social media platforms, such as Instagram and TikTok, took 2.5 years and 9 months, respectively, to reach 100 million subscribers.
ChatGPT was launched in December of last year. OpenAI, which is backed by Elon Musk, developed the AI chatbot. The conversational bot has been trained to respond to a prompt with a detailed response. Users may just type in their question, and the chatbot will respond.
“In 20 years following the Internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in a consumer internet app. By comparison, TikTok took nine months to reach 100 million monthly users, and Instagram about 2.5 years,", according to a UBS research based in part on Similarweb data.
According to Similarweb estimations, the chat.openai.com website received around 25 million daily views in the past week. It adds that traffic to the site has increased by 3.4% each day on average during the last month.
It goes on to say that on the highest day of the year, January 31, the site had 28 million hits from 15.7 million unique visitors.
The rate of expansion has been a source of anxiety for the current internet behemoths, especially Google. During the results call, Google CEO Larry Page frequently addressed the possibilities of AI and how ready the world is to embrace it, alluding to the response for ChatGPT. "AI is the most profound technology we are working on today," stated Sunder Pichai. China's Baidu has also announced plans to launch its own ChatGPT competitor in the near future.
OpenAI just released the ChatGPT Plus model. The ChatGPT Plus Subscription will cost $20 a month and will be available exclusively in the United States for the time being. Users with the Plus membership will have access to the services during peak hours. Furthermore, these Plus users will have faster response times and priority access to the new features.
