News Synopsis

The Indian division of German luxury automobile manufacturer of BMW introduced the new i4 electric sedan at the India Art Fair held in New Delhi. The luxury carmaker has also confirmed that the new i4 will be launched in India on May 26, 2022. Surprisingly, the launch of the i4 by the German car company will coincide with another electric offering, the EV6 electric crossover by South Korea-based Kia Motors. The i4 is the second electric vehicle for India by BMW after the iX. Other than the iX and i4, BMW India Group also unveiled the MINI Cooper SE earlier this year in India. The new i4 is the first electric sedan to be launched in the luxury segment.

The BMW i4 will be launched in India in the eDrive40 variant and is equipped with an 81.5 kWh battery pack that powers the electric motor to produce 330 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque. The car manufacturer claims a range of 483 km on a single charge as per the WLTP cycle. The i4 can be charged using a Level 2 wall-box through AC power at 11 kW, which can charge the battery up to 100 percent in 8 hours.
