Tata Motors plans to launch at most 10 new EVs to increase its presence in the EV market. Tata Motors is currently India's leading EV maker, holding an 88% market share. Tata Motors will launch a new EV, the Tiago Electric, on the World EV Day 2022. It will be Tata Motors' most affordable electric vehicle, priced below the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. It will likely get a similar battery pack to the Tigor EV.
Tigor EV comes with a 26 kWh pack of battery. The Nexon EV is slightly more successful with a 30.2-kWh battery pack. The certified range for Tigor and Nexon EV is 312 km, respectively. Tata Tiago Electric range will also be approximately 300 kms with a full charge. The Ziptron platform is used by Nexon EV and Tigor. It includes liquid cooling technology, an IP67-rated battery pack, and a highly efficient permanent magnetsynchronous motor. Advanced electronics ensure that the cars can perform at all temperatures. Similar features will be available in the Tata Tiago electric.
The powertrain onboard Tigor Evo generates 74 horsepower of maximum power and 170 Nm peak torque. Nexon EV numbers are greater at 127 bhp, and 245 Nm. Tiago EV might have similar power and torque output to Tigor. Because it is smaller, it will likely offer more range than Tigor. It is unlikely that there will be major changes in the design and features of Tiago electric. It will have the same styling as existing Tata electric cars.
