Twitter is working on a feature that will allow its users to edit tweets after they have been posted. The announcement comes after Tesla chief, Elon Musk revealed a 9.2% stake in the social media company and posted a poll asking his followers if they want the feature or not.

The company also said that the edit feature has been one of the most requested features among Twitter users for some time. Elon Musk’s poll got 4.4 million votes.

Twitter’s stake went up 27%, the largest one-day percentage gain on record for the company after Tesla's chief disclosed his stake in the company, making him one of the biggest shareholders in the company. Elon Musk also joined Twitter’s board of directors after the announcement.

Reactions to the news were mixed on Twitter, with many users questioning the impact it can have on credibility and overall disclosure on the platform. Others welcomed the move, saying that it would allow users to make important corrections and clarifications which are often forgotten in the noise on such a popular platform.
