News Synopsis

From The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, the nominees for the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards have been revealed.

Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva of the new NBC comedy series Lopez vs. Lopez and Helen Hoehne, the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), made the announcements about the nominees. For each of the 27 award categories, they presented five nominees.

96 members and, for the first time, 103 international voters cast ballots for the nominees. The new electorate was gathered from international business organizations, renowned foreign film festivals, and journalists. This diversified voting group is made up of citizens from 62 different nations. The combined membership of the Golden Globe Awards voting body now includes 52% women and 51.8% people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, including 19.6% Latinx, 12.1% Asian, 10.1% Black, and 10.1% Middle Eastern.

Some of the biggest names in music were also nominated at Tuesday night's (Jan. 10) 2023 Golden Globe Awards, among a sea of superstars in film and television.

Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez all undoubtedly went home empty-handed, but who ended up being the night's biggest winners? The Fabelmans (drama) and The Banshees of Inisherin (musical or comedy) won the top film accolades, and House of the Dragons (drama), Abbott Elementary (musical or comedy), and The White Lotus won the top TV prizes (limited series, anthology series or a motion picture made for television).
