News Synopsis

Swiggy’s Bolt prioritizes the safety of its delivery executives by not distinguishing Bolt orders from regular ones. There are no incentives for faster delivery, ensuring delivery partners focus on safe practices. Instead, the delivery speed is achieved by allocating orders to partners closest to the participating Bolt outlets.

Nationwide Expansion of Bolt Service

Two months after its launch on October 4, 2023, Bolt has expanded to more than 400 cities and towns. Initially introduced in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, the service now includes emerging hubs like Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Indore. Additionally, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities such as Roorkie, Guntur, Warangal, Patna, and Shillong have also been brought into the fold.

Bolt’s Unique Offering

Bolt specializes in delivering food items that require little to no preparation, sourced from popular quick-service restaurants (QSRs) and local eateries. With a catalog of over 10 lakh items from 40,000+ restaurants, Bolt ensures deliveries within a 2-kilometer radius in just 10 minutes.

Regional Adoption and Restaurant Partnerships

Cities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana lead in adopting Bolt, followed by Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Punjab. Swiggy has collaborated with well-known brands like KFC, McDonald’s, Starbucks, and local favorites like Gwalia Sweets in Ahmedabad, Shiraz in Kolkata, and Bhartiya Jalpan in Bangalore. In Tier 2 cities, partners such as Varalakshmi Tiffins in Guntur and Baap of Rolls in Roorkie have seen over 10% of their orders via Bolt.

Expanding Customer Experience

Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace, expressed excitement over Bolt’s success. He stated, “Bolt is changing the way customers experience food. The love from customers and enthusiasm from restaurants made expanding Bolt an easy decision. We’re thrilled to bring this to more cities and homes.”

Addressing Instant Gratification Trends

The rapid adoption of quick commerce has fueled consumer demand for instant services. Swiggy’s expansion of Bolt aligns with this trend, offering unmatched convenience to customers. Meanwhile, competitors like Zomato tested similar services but discontinued their 10-minute delivery in 2023.
