Rohit Kapoor, who was promoted to the position of global chief marketing office at Oyo in a significant reorganisation in March of this year, has left the organisation, people with knowledge of the situation told a news agency.
He is in discussions with Swiggy to join them as their chief executive officer (CEO) of the food delivery industry, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Kapoor previously served as the CEO of Oyo's operations in Southeast Asia and India.
If Kapoor joins Swiggy, it will be at a time when several of the company's top executives have recently left. Shivcharan Pulugurtha, Swiggy's senior vice-president of business, who oversaw the company's food delivery business, joined Tata Digital last year after chief operating officer (COO) Vivek Sunder, who was overseeing the company's food delivery business, left the company.
Oyo had announced in March that Ankit Tandon, its global chief business officer, would assume additional leadership responsibilities for Southeast Asia, with a focus on Indonesia and the Middle East region.
The position of India CEO had been assumed by Ankit Gupta, who is presently the CEO of Hotels and Homes India. According to the company, Ritesh Agarwal, the founder and group CEO, will receive reports from all three executives.
