News Synopsis

Reliance Retail is getting ready to open its offline outlets and introduce its e-commerce platform for beauty products called Tira. According to a top official, the first offline Tira store would open in Mumbai in April before expanding nationwide in both standalone and "shop-in-shop" forms.

Tira will feature sections for men's beauty, luxury, bathing, fragrances, makeup, skincare, and hair care. The platform is currently accessible to all Reliance employees, but it will soon be available to the general public as well.

Subramaniam V, director of Reliance Retail, announced the news on the sidelines of an event hosted by the FICCI industry association. When asked about the offline expansion of Tira, the official responded, "It will come up in the month of April in Mumbai,"

Without giving an exact count, Subramaniam V stated that Reliance Retail has enough locations to spread its platform throughout all of India. "Tira would be the premium and for non-premium (brand), we still have to decide,"  he said.

A PTI article states that Tira stores will include a number of technological interventions, including virtual try-ons and personalised recommendations.

The high-end goods would be sold in a specialised section named Tira Red.

According to Subramaniam V, Reliance Retail is one of the biggest companies in the beauty industry and is Lakme's top customer. They are also present in the personal care and hair care industries. He added,

Last year, the cosmetics and personal care company Insight Cosmetics saw Reliance Retail purchase a controlling interest in it.
