News Synopsis

Poco has officially launched the C71 in India, shaking up the budget smartphone market by offering a rare feature — a 120Hz refresh rate display — at an incredibly low starting price of just Rs 6,499. With this, Poco is pushing boundaries on what users can expect from a sub-Rs 7,000 smartphone.

120Hz Display in a Budget Smartphone

Traditionally, high refresh rate screens were limited to premium and mid-range devices. The Poco C71 changes that by introducing a 120Hz panel in the entry-level category. This high refresh rate enhances user experience with smoother scrolling, better gaming visuals, and an overall fluid UI.

Along with the 120Hz refresh rate, the Poco C71 sports a 6.88-inch HD+ display, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 600 nits of peak brightness — delivering an immersive visual experience rarely seen in this price bracket.

Android 15 and Long-Term Support

One of the biggest surprises is that the Poco C71 comes with Android 15 right out of the box. Most phones in this segment still ship with older Android versions, so this future-ready approach gives the device an edge.

Poco also promises two years of OS updates and four years of security patches, ensuring long-term usability — a rarity in this price range.

Built to Handle the Elements: Wet Touch & IP52 Rating

The Poco C71 includes Wet Touch technology, allowing users to interact with the device even with damp hands — a feature generally seen in rugged or flagship smartphones. It also has an IP52 rating for dust and splash resistance, making it more durable for everyday use.

Performance and Storage

Under the hood, the Poco C71 is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset. While it’s not designed for heavy gaming or multitasking, it handles daily tasks like social media, browsing, and messaging smoothly.

The phone is available in two configurations:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage

  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage

With virtual RAM expansion up to 12GB and microSD card support for storage expansion up to 2TB, users get ample room for apps, media, and files.

Camera Capabilities

For photography, the Poco C71 offers a dual-rear camera setup led by a 32MP primary sensor, accompanied by an 8MP front camera for selfies. While budget phones generally don’t excel in the camera department, Poco’s image tuning could provide better-than-expected results.

Battery and Connectivity

A 5,200mAh battery powers the device, which should easily last through a full day of regular use. Charging is capped at 15W — a bit slow but acceptable given the price point.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, covering all the essentials for the average user.

Poco C71 Pricing and Availability

The Poco C71 will be available on Flipkart starting April 8. Pricing is as follows:

  • 4GB + 64GB: Rs 6,499

  • 6GB + 128GB: Rs 7,499

Airtel customers can buy the phone from April 10 at a special starting price of Rs 5,999. The phone is offered in three color options — Black, Blue, and Gold.

Final Thoughts: Budget Phones Are Getting Better

With the Poco C71, Poco has once again demonstrated that premium features can trickle down to entry-level devices. While it lacks 5G, everything else — from the display to software — is built to impress. At this price point, it sets a new benchmark for budget smartphones.
