Industrialist Cyrus Mistry can also be considered to have a special connection with the historical film Mughal-e-Azam. The historical film Mughal-e-Azam of Hindi film industry was produced by Sterling Investment Corporation Pvt Ltd.

The owner of this company was Shapoorji Pallonji, the grandfather of Cyrus Mistry. The film Mughal-e-Azam, which came in the year 1960, is a milestone in the history of Indian cinema. Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Prithviraj Kapoor and Durga Khote were in the lead roles in the film. It took a long time of 14 years to make the film. Due to the grand set, big star cast, and director's fees, the budget of the film was around one to 1.5 crore rupees.

In such a situation, Shapoorji Pallonji, the grandfather of Cyrus Mistry, shed money like water. Whereas, there came a time when he did not want to spend more money on the film. At the same time, the song 'Jab Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' from Mughal-e-Azam is still hummed. About 15 lakh rupees were spent on the shooting of this song itself. The set of Sheesh Ke Mahal in Lahore was made for the song. It took two years. At the same time, many times the sets of the film did not meet the vision of director K. Abbas, then they were also broken. Despite being such a big-budget film, Pallonji was sure that Mughal-e-Azam would break many records at the box office. His belief proved to be true and the film collected Rs 11 crores in India only.
