The work of Michiyo Tsujimura on the discovery of Vitamin C in green tea is highly commendable. Given the time period, she did this research and published it, the hardships she would have gone through are only imaginable. In an era when the females weren’t encouraged to pursue higher studies, she out threw the similar regime of being suppressed out of her life. But the path she chose wasn’t that easy. She had to work for free at the start to gain the chance of pursuing research in the university. Japan had to survive a terrible earthquake in 1923, but even this could not prevent her from continuing the research and finally becoming the first woman Ph.D. holder of Japan. Green tea which is highly trending today is somewhere under the influence of her discovery.
