News Synopsis

McDonald's India - North and East plan to hire 1500 additional staff members through non-governmental organisations by 2025, or 50% of its workforce, in an effort to spur change and have a beneficial impact on the local communities.

For this reason, McDonald's India - North and East has started the community initiative "McDonald's For Youth," which aims to significantly contribute to India's growth story by giving local communities, especially the less privileged ones, opportunities for productive work.

The company has so far hired more than 500 young people in the past year while collaborating with a number of well-known non-profit organizations, including Tarraqi, Magic Bus, Tech Mahindra Foundation, and Quess Corp Foundation.

The majority of those hired under the "McDonald's For Youths" initiative are doing so for the first time, which marks an important turning point in their lives. These young people gain from McDonald's global training curriculum, which helps them develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen careers, in addition to being their first source of income. This involves abilities like good food handling habits, customer service, communication, and cooperation, among others.

With its extensive training programs, McDonald's has a strong history of developing hospitality experts by instilling the proper attitude, empathy, and passion in individuals.

Rajeev Ranjan, the managing director of McDonald's India - North and East, spoke about the initiative and said,  "'McDonalds for Youth' is a campaign through which we aim to offer gainful employment for the youth, especially youth from the under-privileged communities who have limited education and employment opportunities. We aim to hire 50 percent of our entry-level workforce under this initiative, and invest in their overall growth and development through our world-class high-quality training and learning programs.

"This initiative is much more than filling open positions - it is about being a part of the local communities, and is an attempt to make them a part of us. We invite more organisations to join us in our endeavor to dismantle the barriers to equal opportunities, dismantle barriers to economic growth and empower the youth to excel in their work and life."

McDonald's India-North and East seeks to start a chain reaction by promoting change that goes well beyond the boundaries of the restaurants and serving up better futures. Providing equal opportunity and a better future for all is one of the most serious challenges facing our world today, and this inspirational initiative aims to address it.
