Leena Nair, an executive at Unilever has been appointed as the new Global CEO of the French fashion house Chanel. Nair worked with Unilever for 30 years and was working as the chief of Human Resources along with being a member of the company’s executive committee.
Alain Wertheimer, who has taken the job of CEO on a temporary basis, will now serve the fashion house as the new Global Executive Chairman. Chanel was founded in 1910 by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, which was a hat boutique at the time.
Leena Nair will join as the new Global CEO at the end of January and will be based in London. It is believed that the fashion house hired Nair to have a more inclusive approach in the fashion industry.
