The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced the postponement of the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival, which was scheduled to begin on January 7, as the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic began to hit the country and the state. The announcement came a few days after KIFF Organizing Committee chairman Raj Chakraborty and member Parambrata Chatterjee tested positive for covid-19.
The state government has postponed the festival for now and has said that after assessing the Covid-19 situation in the state, and taking into consideration the possible spread of the disease among artists and everyone who will attend the event, they have decided to postpone the 27th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival, which was supposed to take place from 7-14 January 2022.
