Jobless Rate Soars High in August Amidst Rising COVID-19 Cases

News Synopsis

Unemployment in India has constantly been growing for the past four or five years. Reports in 2020 suggested that the unemployment rate in India has been the highest in 45 years. Even some neighboring countries such as Bangladesh have a higher employment rate than India. To make matters worse, the pandemic affected the Indian economy and the employment sector. Amidst all this, it is no surprise that the Indian economy is struggling and the unemployment rate is also down the gutter. And when we had just begun to recover from the first wave of the pandemic, the second wave made it even worse.

Needless to say that at this point, the central government needs to introduce boost programs to push our economy further and uplift it. Also since seven million people lost their jobs amidst the second wave of the pandemic. The government needs to also introduce employment programs that provide employment to the umemployed.
