News Synopsis

Hero MotoCorp is making an upward revision in the ex-showroom prices of its two-wheelers. This upward revision will be in effect from January 4, 2022. The price revision will be up to Rs 2,000 and the exact quantum of increase will depend on the model and the market.

Other than Hero MotoCorp, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has also announced the price hike of Polo Vento and Taigun from January 1, 2022, due to the rise in input and operational costs.  The company also announced that this price hike will not be applicable to the new Tiguan, which was recently launched in India.

The price hike is happening due to the rise in prices of raw materials like steel, aluminum, copper, and precious metals that are used in automobile production. Earlier other car makers such as Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Honda Cars, and Skoda have shown the signs that the automobile companies will be increasing the vehicle costs with the start of a new year.
