News Synopsis

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 9 series at a new event scheduled for August 13. Ahead of this anticipated launch, a leak has surfaced suggesting that Google will offer a free 1-year subscription to Gemini Advanced for buyers of the Pixel 9 Pro models.

Leak Reveals Free Subscription Offer

According to insights from source, an APK teardown of the latest Google App beta (version 15.28) has revealed a string indicating that "Your Pixel Pro gives you access to a 1-year subscription to Gemini Advanced, our most capable AI model with priority access to new features, at no cost to you." This suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will come with a complimentary one-year Gemini Advanced subscription.

Subscription Benefits and Costs

Launched in February, the Gemini Advanced subscription is priced at Rs 1,950 per month in India. It includes access to Gemini's 1.5 Pro model, which features a one million token context window.

Subscribers also receive priority access to new and exclusive features, the ability to edit and run Python code directly within the tool, and 2TB of Google One storage.

Additionally, the subscription will soon include access to Gemini Live, an AI feature that allows users to interact with their surroundings in real-time or engage in two-way conversations with the AI.

Pixel 9 May Get Six-Month Subscription

In a separate report from AssembleDebug, it was found through another APK teardown that the standard Pixel 9 might only receive six months of free access to Gemini Advanced, unlike the Pro models which are expected to get a full year.

Google’s Competitive Edge in AI

Google's move to offer free access to Gemini Advanced is seen as an effort to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Apple recently unveiled new Apple Intelligence features, and Samsung showcased new Galaxy AI features at its Unpacked event. By providing free subscriptions to its advanced AI tools, Google aims to attract more buyers to its Pixel 9 series and ensure its position in the AI market.

Conclusion

With the Pixel 9 series launch just around the corner, Google’s potential offer of a free 1-year Gemini Advanced subscription is a significant incentive for prospective buyers. The inclusion of advanced AI features and extensive benefits like priority access to new tools and substantial Google One storage further enhances the value proposition of the upcoming Pixel devices.
