FMCG major Emami has announced the acquisition of the Dermicool brand from Reckitt for Rs 432 crore in total. The acquisition is funded by accruals and is subject to the customary closing conditions, the company said in a statement. The brand is known for providing relief from the pricky heat caused during the summers.
Emami Ltd Director, Harsha V Agrawal has said, “We are very happy to announce that the acquisition of the Dermicool brand, which offers synergy without existing businesses and is a perfect strategic fit. It will strengthen our presence and will help in making us #1 in the pricky heat powder and cool talc category,”
Its been a core business strategy of Emami to adapt growth through the inorganic route. The company said it is considering an acquisition that not only provides added value and synergies with its current business area but also provides an opportunity for the organisation to be in a high-growth category.
Zandu, Kesh King, and German brand Creme 21 are some of the brands or businesses acquired by the company in the past few years, it added.
