Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., India's top mineral water company, has strengthened its sustainability strategy by launching the 'Bisleri Greener Promise'.
The sustainability ideology aims to create a greener future by encouraging and implementing recycling, water conservation, and agenda for future.
Bisleri International has become one of the first consumer goods companies to be plastic-neutral and water positive under the auspices of this concept. It highlights its commitment to the country's long-term growth by unveiling bold initiatives in plastic recycling and water conservation.
Bisleri International also released a sustainability report outlining its development in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. The report was created by the TERI School of Advanced Studies. It focuses on Bisleri International's efforts to create a circular economy, use resources efficiently, reduce GHG emissions, replenish water, and recycle packaging material.
Bisleri International's Bottle For Change programme strives to bring behavioural change and raise awareness about the importance of post-consumer plastic as part of its commitment to safeguard the environment and minimise the effects of irresponsible disposal of old plastic.
Bisleri International has changed the behaviour of 600,000 citizens through the initiative by holding sensitization workshops and collecting activities. Throughout seven cities, these workshops and drives were held at nearly 3500 housing societies, 680 educational institutions, 790 corporates, and 600 hotels and restaurants. Almost 4000MT of wasted plastic has been collected and recycled as a result of the initiatives.
"We at TERI School of Advanced Studies believe that resource efficiency and waste management are the keys to smart, sustainable and inclusive development. We work together internally and externally to maximize shared knowledge and impact. Bisleri International Private Limited has been practising a triple bottom line as an approach. We are happy to partner with them to develop their first Sustainability report. Hope this aligns all their stakeholders to their work towards sustainable development." Dr. Shruti Sharma, Assistant Professor at TERI, SAS, agreed.
